Every Child Deserves Hope and a Future

Anna was enslaved by her family.

Your gifts helped rescue and protect her. Now she is healing - and she has hope.

Here’s her story - and how you can help.

Dear Friend,

Like you, I love hearing stories of transformed lives. And one story that has inspired me this year is that of Anna and her little sister.

These two precious little girls were orphaned after their parents died from poisoning. After being sent to live with extended family, they were forced to work as house slaves and not allowed to attend school or play. At night they slept on a cold, wet floor.

Tragically, Anna’s story is typical in many regions of East Africa. Many children are forced into dangerous situations. They never get the chance to be a child – to play, dream, and laugh.

But there is hope and healing for Anna and her sister, as they are now safe at the City of Hope. They can now learn, grow, and heal from painful pasts in a secure environment. They receive medical care, clothing, nutritious food, and experience the love of their Heavenly Father. This is good news!

And there are two other essential needs that we must provide for Anna and others like her:

Firstly, a quality education helps these young people break out of poverty, pursue satisfying and productive careers, and reach their full potential. That is our goal for every child we serve – and we are delighted to see how Anna is thriving as she studies in school!

Secondly, these kids need support to heal from past hurts. We provide trauma-informed care that helps them grow and recover from the abuse, violence, and danger they have experienced.

Education and trauma-informed care are two vital areas where we urgently need your help today. We plan to:

Open a new library and computer lab at Destiny Primary School…

In 2023, we will continue to expand the facilities at Destiny Primary School, improving the quality of teaching and learning and giving Anna and her friends vital literacy and technology skills. This means equipping a new library and computer lab. We have the space but now need to furnish it with desks and chairs, bookshelves, books, computers, and other vital equipment at a cost of $25,000.

Help more children heal from trauma…

The needs we face are overwhelming. That’s why we opened a new safe house for abused girls this year and provided more counseling and care to children than ever before. And in 2023, we must do even more – to rescue and protect more girls, provide more trauma-informed care to hurting children like Anna, and work with local schools to raise awareness about child abuse and prevention. To meet the critical needs in this area, we must raise an additional $15,000 by the end of December.

These two vital projects can only be accomplished with your support. Please stand with hurting children today by making a generous gift – for whatever amount you can share - to help them heal and provide them with hope for a healthy future.

Thank you, for being so willing to walk with vulnerable and hurting children through this past year. God is using you to change the lives of kids you may never meet this side of eternity, but who will praise Him forever because you cared!

Gratefully,

Al Lackey, CEO

P.S. Please pray with us for Anna and the many other children we serve in Tanzania and Kenya. And please make a special gift today and ensure that our kids have all they need as we finish up this year. Thank you for caring!
