Amani Medical Center: September 2024 Impact Report

“The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine,

you did for me.” – Matthew 25:40 (NIV)

BREACH DELIVERY, TOOTH EXTRACTIONS, NEW MEDICAL LAB, TILE FLOORING…and more!

HopeCo exists to rescue children in East Africa from abuse, hunger, and exploitation. We are dedicated to helping them reach their full potential and become leaders and “changemakers” in their own nations. And we are passionate about seeing individuals, families, and whole communities transformed forever by the power of Jesus Christ! One such outreach to the community is the Amani Medical Center. Last year, nearly 14,000 patients (over 1,000 per month) received life-saving care. The center addresses the critical lack of hospitals in the region by providing high-quality, affordable healthcare to City of Hope and the local community.

BREACH BABY SAFELY DELIVERED

A 28-year-old expectant mom recently came to Amani Medical Center seeking help with her pregnancy. Her labor pains started when she was still at her farm, a distance away, and by the time she arrived at the medical center she was hemorrhaging. After a thorough examination by our medical staff, it was discovered that her baby was breech. Thankfully she came to the medical center for help! Our capable medical team was able to assist her in giving birth to a healthy baby boy – her fourth child. We treated the mother with needed fluids to replace what she had lost during the traumatic delivery, and she and her baby boy were able to return home two days later – happy and healthy! Before we opened Amani Medical Center, women in our communities had no hospital to go to when it was time for them to have their babies. As a result, many moms died in childbirth, and a high number of babies died within the first few months.

DENTAL CARE TOO

A young man in his early 30’s had been suffering from severe toothaches and had a swollen (infected) tooth. With no dentist within hundreds of miles, this man came from his home in Kegonga Village to Amani Medical Center seeking help. Our trained medical staff was able to pull the infected tooth and send him home with antibiotics and pain medication. Three days later he returned to let us know how well he was doing AND brought two other men suffering from the same tooth infection so they could be treated as well! Good news travels fast!

HELPING THE LAME WALK

A child was born at Amani Medical Center with a disabled left leg. (Because of this baby’s “handicap”, the mother and the family were not happy with their new baby.) After a closer examination, however, our medical team discovered the problem and was able to correct it. We later learned that their baby boy is doing well and the family members are delighted!

NEW LAB UPDATE / TILE FLOORING PROGRESS

Our new laboratory is scheduled to be operational by October! This new addition to the medical center will increase the quality of our care and ability to serve more people. Lab equipment has been ordered and we are in the final stages of hiring a lab technician. The new floor tile project is giving our medical center a more attractive, professional appearance, and making it easier to keep the floors sanitary. The project will be completed as funds are made available. Because of these improvements, more women from different areas are visiting the medical center and considering coming here to have their babies.

Thanks to a passionate donor couple spearheading the tile project. They caught the vision to tile the entire medical center while serving at City of Hope this summer.

THANK YOU for helping the Amani Medical Center provide life-saving

treatment to more people!
