Hope for Hopeless Families in Remote Kenya

Samwel was born in the desert area near Machakos, Kenya. The youngest child in his family (his birthdate is unknown), he lives with his parents and two older brothers. His mother is unable to care for her family, and his father is frequently unemployed. In the past, he would look for work on local farms to put food on the table, but it was never enough to fill their stomachs. They lived in meager conditions, often going to bed hungry. Besides being malnourished, Samwel’s brothers would often miss school when they could not afford the school fees. Living in this way was a true challenge for Samwel and his family. There seemed to be no hope.

However, thanks to HopeCo’s opening of the Family Empowerment Center-Machakos in 2023, Samwel’s life is improving. He and his family participate in the program at the Center. Through sponsorship, they can eat regular meals, pay school fees, learn what God’s Word says, and so much more! Samwel looks forward to the day he is old enough to attend school with his older brothers. In the meantime, he watches them go off to school each day.

Samwel and his family are grateful that HopeCo reopened the Family Empowerment Center which gives families (some of which are child-headed) practical help for today – and hope for tomorrow. Please pray that Samwel and his brothers will develop into healthy, godly young men who will give back to their community!
