HopeCo’s Vision: Transformed Lives, Flourishing Communities

HopeCo exists to rescue children in East Africa from abuse, hunger, and exploitation. We are dedicated to helping them reach their full potential and become leaders and “changemakers” in their own nations. And we are passionate about seeing individuals, families, and whole communities transformed forever by the power of Jesus Christ!

AMANI MEDICAL CENTER GETS NEW LAB AND NEW LOOK

NEW LAB AND STAFF – The medical lab equipment has finally arrived and our new lab is now operational! This new equipment will significantly enhance our ability to treat the hundreds of patients from surrounding communities who come to Amani Medical Center each month – diagnosing medical conditions more accurately and swiftly. Due to the increase in the number of children and families we are treating, hiring additional staff was a necessity.

NEW TILE FLOORING HAS BEEN COMPLETED! – We’re thrilled that the tile flooring project is now complete! The new tile has given our medical center a professional, attractive look and made it easier to keep the floors sanitary. Staff morale has been boosted and we’ve noticed an increase in women visitors coming to Amani as they consider having their babies here.

ERICA* FOUND HEALING IN HER NEW HOME

Erica is a new resident at City of Hope and we are thankful the Lord brought her here! She has experienced a lot of loss in her young life:  her mom died giving birth to her, so Erica lived with her grandmother until she died. Brought to us by a social worker, Erica stepped into her new home with a heavy heart. Overwhelmed with all the change and sadness of her losses, she barely spoke and kept to herself…until she put on her school uniform and went to our primary school. She was seated next to Nia* who smiled at her and showed her kindness. In “a blink of an eye” everything changed, and they became friends! Now Erica has a smile for everyone she meets and is a friend to all!

DESTINY PRIMARY SCHOOL UPGRADES

The growing need for mental health support and the necessity of a private counseling area were resolved with the addition of a counseling room. This private space gives students an environment where they can address their emotional and psychological needs confidentially, reinforcing our commitment to our students that their well-being is a top priority.

Before the establishment of the computer lab, Destiny students had limited access to digital learning tools posing a significant challenge in preparing them for a technology-driven world. Now they can develop essential digital skills that will enhance their academic experience, improving learning outcomes.

EDUCATION DREAM COMES TRUE FOR JENNA*

Jenna desired to attend a school that would challenge and nurture her academically. Seeing her neighborhood friend in her school uniform one day challenged this bright, ambitious girl to ask her parents for permission to go to school. However, her parents didn’t want her to get more schooling – because she was a girl. Despite her tireless efforts to convince them otherwise, her parents remained unmoved. One day Jenna made a courageous decision to go to school anyway. Upon arriving at our secondary school, she immediately talked with the school principal about her situation, who then called her parents to let them know where she was. The principal talked with them about how important an education is and they finally agreed that Jenna should continue her studies at Dr. John Chacha Secondary School!
