City of Hope Residential Care
Tanzania

At the City of Hope, orphans and vulnerable children find healing and hope in our loving residential home.

  • A smiling young girl with a shaved head, wearing a blue plaid dress, is sitting outdoors next to a smiling woman with dark hair in a ponytail, wearing a white T-shirt, in front of green bushes and a driveway.

    Rescue and care

As we rescue at-risk children from hopelessness and despair, our caregivers invest in their healing and future. Each child is introduced to the Good News of the Gospel and their loving Heavenly Father.

  • Quality Education

Each child at the City of Hope gets access to quality education at our primary or secondary school, both of which consistently rank in the top 3% of the country. Our teachers equip each child for a purposeful future.

  • A teacher leading a group of children in an outdoor activity, with children raising their hands and engaging attentively.

    Empowerment

We seek to empower each child to thrive and to follow the call God has placed on their lives. We are seeing our young adults begin to enter careers in teaching, nursing, and engineering!

Latest News from the City of Hope

As the General Manager at City of Hope, I witness the transformation of many lives. I see futures being reshaped and hope being restored within this community and even beyond the region. Our children become resilient and believe that one day they will overcome the hardships they have gone through. The quality education provided by our two schools has had a great influence in shaping and molding the community against negative cultural practices such as early marriages, wife inheritance, and others. Our leadership is helping to bring about sustainable development in the community.

Above all, the legacy of Dr. John Chacha — his vision of raising good leaders from the City of Hope — is becoming a reality. In the next ten years, the country will witness the impact of COH’s preparation of excellent leaders who will bring positive change to the community.
— Amani Godfrey, City of Hope General Manager
I enjoy taking care of our wonderful children, making sure they have eaten well, have appropriate clothing, and are doing their homework as well as creating a conducive home environment for safe engagement and interaction with each other. It is motivating to see our children overcome the challenges of their earlier years. They are embracing the Word of God. They have hope for a brighter tomorrow. As a young mom, I’m committed to seeing all our children thrive.
