"You can't out-love these kids!"
Thank you, Hickory United Methodist Church, for serving children in Tanzania!
This summer, a team of seven wonderful individuals from Hickory United Methodist Church, one of HopeCo’s church partners, served for a month at the City of Hope. For six of the team members, it was an exciting trip “home,” as they had served previously with us in Tanzania. And for one team member, Steve, it was the first trip of many to come!
The team accomplished many projects during their month-long stay and made a huge impact on the kids and staff! During their time at City of Hope, the team built wardrobes for our secondary school teachers, provided teacher assistance at Destiny Primary School, repaired desks and lab tables in our science classrooms, and curated a design layout for a new cattle barn. While the team was in Tanzania, we also had our maize (corn) harvest, and they eagerly jumped in to help!
On Saturday nights, you could find the team and many kids and staff gathered around to watch “The Chosen” series, which the team brought with them and left for continued watching!
All of the kids and staff at City of Hope were blessed greatly by this team - as you can see by the big smiles in the pictures below - and we are excited to continue growing our partnership with Hickory United Methodist Church and these team members!
“If you have ever thought of going on a Mission trip to the City of Hope, but aren’t sure how you could be helpful - don’t hesitate! Trust God, and he will use you as he sees fit,” reflected one team member.
You can learn more about our mission team and internship programs below. We would love to have you serve with us in East Africa - and I know the kids would too!
