Introducing Board Member, Jacob Moyer!

Jacob is an emergency room doctor in Richmond, VA, and has been investing in HopeCo since 2013! After hearing about HopeCo from Ty Hopkins, another HopeCo board member, Jacob was excited about how the organization is implementing biblical health into its programs in Tanzania. In 2013, Jacob visited City of Hope in Tanzania and fell in love with ministry. “It’s hard not to love it once you go there and see it. The work is transformative and it really is touching every aspect of a person’s life,” he explains.

Jacob has now visited City of Hope four times and has served on committees, fundraisers, and as a member of our board. After building impactful relationships with the staff and children on our campus in Tanzania, Jacob wants to do whatever he can to spread lasting hope. He wants to see HopeCo “dream big” and not limit what we ask God for in faith. He envisions HopeCo taking care of communities and children all over the world, and seeing the children who grew up at City of Hope return to serve, teach, and work to raise the next generation of kids.

Jacob believes that systemic change starts with the next generation and with how we raise kids. Jacob and his wife have a daughter on the way and he wants to honor God in all areas of his life, whether that is impacting his wife, children, kids at the City of Hope, or the patients he serves. He wants to be known everywhere as a servant of Jesus.

When asked what he would tell anyone interested in HopeCo, Jacob says, “If there is any skill or ability you have learned, then there is a place and a need for it at HopeCo. I believe we are building a community that realizes the need for the different skills that God gives people, and you can bring them to fruition in meaningful ways here. HopeCo is a place where people can live to the fullest as Jesus intended.”
